Learning in the back room and just from textbooks is so last century. Such studies have shown that children learn from discovery and exposure.
At Beansprouts, learning extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. One such measure for learning beyond the classroom is Field Trips, which are inspiring and foster hands-on learning for preschoolers with lifelong memories. Each trip is full of exploration, problem-solving, and discovery.
In this blog, we shall discuss some of our most outstanding preschool field trips with our beanies, which are just filled with learning and memories that last a lifetime.
The Rail Museum: Journey Through Time
All aboard for a journey into the past! The trip to the Rail Museum gave our students an interesting peek into the past, illustrating the story of trains and the development of Indian railways. Now, learning all this just from books would be very boring, but to see it for ourselves, our beanies loved it.
Locos, moving through spectacular crowds of the first steam engine to the latest high-speed trains, tell the story of technological developments that have shaped transportation in the world. They learn a lot in interactive displays about how engines work or even go inside the majestic carriages where royalty once travelled. The Rail Museum brought history to life and kindled the imagination of our students with an interest in engineering and innovations.
The Air Force Museum: Flying High
Our visit to the Air Force Museum was literally reaching new heights! Here at this place, students were exposed to the world of aviation and the bold pilots who protected our skies. Our beanies went through aircraft, from vintage fighter planes to modern jets, acquiring a firsthand feel of its engineering of aerodynamics and military history.
Another good source for teaching concepts in the STEM areas, particularly physics and mathematics, is the Air Force Museum. Here, in flight simulators and interactive displays, students enjoy flying while acutely aware of the vital role air defence plays in national security.
Flour Mill: From Grain to Bread Visit
This was one of the major behind-the-scenes adventures where students saw how their food-which is a big part of their lives-is produced. They learned the journey of wheat from the field to flour, understood food safety, and what takes place inside a large-scale production facility.
This kind of educational outings for kids teaches them to appreciate the food supply chain and the agriculture industry’s role in our economy. Really, it’s quite an experience to see huge machinery working, especially since they see the simple grain of wheat as part of their daily consumption.
Beyond Classroom Education
These field trips complement what the students are learning in the classroom. But more importantly, they open the students’ eyes to how what they were learning was actually used outside the confines of the classroom-from the mechanics of a steam engine, the physics of flight, and industrial process of grinding flour, our students leave better equipped to see and understand their world.
All these are parts of Beansprouts learning philosophy by exploring and cultivating lifelong love towards it. They relate every theory to its practice while at the same time working concurrently on both knowledge and confidence. After the day’s work, every student walks out of there with knowledge of the subject matter but not only that; they go back home with a sense of wonder and a desire to explore more.
These are the experiences that have shaped and formed the foundation of our approach toward education, developed minds, and empowered students to conquer the world.
