Ways to boost your child’s imagination

Imagine that you turn into a Superhero and save the world from an alien warship.  Difficult to imagine.

See yourself from your child’s perspective. For him you are a Superhero who is the most powerful and intelligent person on this earth. So let us help our children in this realm of imagination. Imagination makes a child creative. It makes him happy, socially interactive and explorative.

At Beansprouts Preschool, Sector 50, Gurugram, we provide an environment which encourages children to be imaginative. Every teacher plays the role of a confidant who listens to strange ideas and praises them.

  1. Every parent must also be a part of his child’s imaginative world. Never ridicule or mock your child for it can curtail his imaginative world. Let them ask as many questions as possible. Let him explore and learn on his own. Be very patient with him.
  2. Get him pictorial books and also narrate stories. Let his curiosity be triggered. Make up a story every day and tell your child to suggest events and dialogues in between. The participation of your child would prompt him to speak up his heart. Imagination is a skill which would help him find various solutions for any problem.
  3. Challenge your child, guide him, impart values alongside and also let him learn new vocabulary. This would give the right direction to his imagination.

  1. Try to elicit curiosity. When imagination engages children in areas and subjects of interest, learning becomes fun and the children engage in learning. If it is singing then let him sing, draw if he wishes it so, Let him explore and enjoy.
  2. Young children love it when the parents consider them responsible so show that confidence and let the child sit on the driver’s seat . Give him colors to draw or whatever he wants. Focus on his interest area. When imagination is unleashed it engages children , provides fun and children engage in learning.

Enthusiasm rubs off, especially when it comes to exploring new things. If your child or student sees that you’re sincerely enthusiastic about his imagination they’re likely to become enthusiastic and be a confident learner. Hands-on experience makes learning long lasting.

Curious and imaginative kids would learn to respect others opinions and be positive in all situations.
